Samsung Electronics has revealed that it will showcase a variety of new screen appliances featuring the 'AI Home' technology at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, USA, starting January 7th. 'AI Home' is a solution that enables users to remotely control and monitor connected appliances through the SmartThings platform using a touchscreen interface.

The new products to be introduced include a Bespoke refrigerator with a 9-inch touchscreen and a Bespoke washer and dryer with a 7-inch touchscreen, all designed to enhance connectivity and user experience through 'AI Home.' These devices will allow users to turn appliances on and off via the screen, with future updates expected to include remote control for mode changes and temperature adjustments.

AI Home Technology

AI Home refers to Samsung's system that links all of its home appliances to the AI-driven SmartThings connectivity platform, enabling remote monitoring and control of the devices, according to Yonhap News Agency.

Samsung explained that the enhanced AI Home technology will allow users to manage the power and settings of all connected home appliances through the touchscreen on any of the devices.

The company also noted that users will be able to access the internet and various online applications, including YouTube and music streaming services, directly from the appliances.

Voice Assistant and Content Access

Bixby, the AI voice assistant, will enable a range of functions through voice commands, such as searching for content, receiving phone calls, and checking user instructions. Furthermore, users will be able to enjoy videos and music via apps like YouTube and Spotify.

SmartThings Hub and Personalized Features

The 9-inch touchscreen on the Bespoke refrigerator will serve as a SmartThings hub, allowing users to control smart devices like door locks, curtains, and lighting without the need for a separate hub. Additionally, the 'Samsung TV Plus' app will offer access to a range of video content, while the appliances will include a 'Voice ID' feature to recognize and distinguish between family members' voices, providing a personalized experience.

Statement from Samsung's Vice President

"Samsung's screen-based home appliances offer a distinct advantage by delivering a seamless device connectivity experience through AI Home," said Moon Jong-seung, Vice President of the Digital Appliances Business Division at Samsung Electronics.

"We will keep introducing a variety of AI-powered home appliances and services to help users minimize household tasks and enjoy an extensive range of device connectivity experiences."
