Hospitality giant Hyatt Hotels Corp. is planning to double its hotels in India within the next five to six years, as it plans to operate 100 properties in the nation within this timeline, according to a top official. 

Speaking to PTI, Sunjae Sharma, Hyatt Hotels Corporation Managing Director, India & Southwest Asia said that the company has strong growth plans for India, as the country progresses as a global tourist destination. 

"We are enthusiastic about our expansion plans in India. With our strong pipeline and strategic growth initiatives, we are confident that we will achieve the milestone of 100 hotels within the next 5-6 years," said Sharma. 

He added: "This ambitious target is driven by the flourishing travel and hospitality industry in India, the growing demand for high-quality hospitality, and the strong connection our brand has with discerning travellers." 

Expanding Presence in India

Hyatt, one of the biggest names in the global hospitality industry has 52 properties in Southwest Asia. Ouf of this number, the group operates 50 hotels in India, while the remaining two are in Nepal. 

According to Sharma, Hyatt will continue its presence in India with its legacy brands including Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place, and Hyatt Centric, while the group also plans to introduce new brands into the market in the future. 

Sharma further noted that India is among Hyatt Hotels' top global growth markets, and the company sees immense potential to expand in the nation. 

"We have the third largest portfolio for Hyatt outside the Americas and China. This underscores our commitment to meeting the growing demand for quality hospitality in the region. Our portfolio will continue to expand with legacy brands, such as Hyatt Regency, Hyatt Place, and Hyatt Centric and the introduction of new brands," said Sharma. 

He also added that discussions are also going on to bring other global brands to India under Hyatt's portfolio. 

New Destinations

During the interview, Sharma said that Hyatt Regency Kasauli and Hyatt Regency Ghaziabad are the two new hotels that is slated to open soon in India. 

"We are also looking at destinations like Bhopal, where we are bringing another new brand, The Unbound Collection, in 2025," he said.
