The airline was quick to respond, blocking the data transmission device causing the system failure by 8:56 a.m. local time. The disruption led to a temporary suspension of ticket sales for both domestic and international flights. However, passengers with pre-purchased tickets were still able to use them.

JAL informed the police that it might have been the victim of a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. This type of attack involves overwhelming networks with massive amounts of data from multiple sources over a short period. One passenger expressed frustration over the lack of communication, stating, "There was no communication except for a push notification on my phone."
