BMW Motorrad India has announced a price hike of up to 2.5% across its entire model range, effective January 1, 2025. The move follows a similar price hike  by Ducati which announced  an increase in price for its premium range two wheelers effective from January 2025. BMW attributed the decision to hike prices to rising input costs and inflationary pressures. The strategic move  will ensure  that the brand maintains its high standards of quality, performance, and premium customer experience, the company stated in a press release.

BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle division of the BMW Group, has been a strong contender in India's premium two-wheeler market since its establishment in 2017. The brand has wide lineup that caters to diverse rider preferences, ranging from adventure and touring enthusiasts to urban commuters. BMW has a range of two-wheeler models such as the BMW G 310 R, BMW G 310 GS produced locally, and the all-electric BMW CE 02 developed in Germany but produced in collaboration with TVS Motor Company in Hosur, under the 'Make in India' banner.

The price revision will impact popular models such as the flagship M 1000 RR, adventure-touring icon R 1300 GS, roadster S 1000 R, and the heritage-inspired R 18 Transcontinental. Despite the price adjustment, BMW Motorrad's flexible financing solutions and extended warranty options aim to minimize the impact on customers, the company added in the statement.

BMW Motorrad's decision comes at a time when competitors such as Italian motor cycle manufacturer Ducati announced price hikes for its various two wheelers models  this week. Harley -Davidson which had hiked the prices of all its models in mid-2023, is also reportedly considering another price hike for its models in 2025. These hikes reflect broader industry trends amid escalating production costs.

BMW Motorrad  continues to lead the premium motorcycle segment in India and said that it willl continue with its with innovative offerings, including its rider gear, accessories financing, and a three-year unlimited kilometer warranty-options that enhance customer satisfaction and brand loyalty.

The premium two-wheeler market in India is witnessing steady growth, driven by rising disposable incomes and an expanding customer base seeking high-performance bikes. Industry experts suggest that while the price increase may influence short-term sales, the long-term outlook remains robust for BMW Motorrad and its peers, thanks to strong brand equity and expanding product portfolios.
