Total commercial vehicle sales were 84,281 units (down 19% YoY) while passenger vehicle sales stood at 130,753 units, (down six per cent) in the quarter.
In contrast to Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors, Kia India reported a 10% sales growth in the July-September period. The company's best-selling model, the Sonet, sold 10,335 units, followed by the Seltos and Carens, with 6,959 and 6,217 units, respectively. According to Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior VP and Head of Sales and Marketing, Kia India, the success is a testament to the unparalleled customer experience the team consistently delivers.
On the other hand, Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors, attributed the slowdown in sales to a reduction in infrastructure project execution, a decrease in mining activity, and an overall drop in fleet utilization due to heavy rains. As the festive season approaches and with the easing of rains, increased infrastructure spending is expected to gradually boost demand in Q3, according to Wagh.
