Apple has made a groundbreaking announcement, unveiling its all-new Mac mini. This compact powerhouse, measuring a mere 5 by 5 inches, is powered by the M4 and new M4 Pro chips. The redesign around Apple silicon promises to deliver an incredible amount of performance in a smaller form.

The M4 chip allows the Mac mini to deliver up to 1.8x faster CPU performance and 2.2x faster GPU performance over the M1 model. The M4 Pro chip takes these advanced technologies and scales them up to tackle even more demanding workloads.

Unprecedented Performance and Connectivity

The new Mac mini also features front and back ports for more convenient connectivity. For the first time, it includes Thunderbolt 5 for faster data transfer speeds on the M4 Pro model. This is a significant upgrade from previous models, which only featured Thunderbolt 3 ports.

The Mac mini is also built for Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system that transforms how users work, communicate, and express themselves while protecting their privacy. This is a significant step forward in Apple's ongoing efforts to integrate AI into its products.

The new Mac mini is available to pre-order now, with availability beginning November 8. It starts at just Rs 59,900 with 16GB of memory. This pricing strategy is reminiscent of the original Mac mini's launch in 2005, which was also positioned as an affordable entry point into the Mac ecosystem.

A New Era of Compact Powerhouses

John Ternus, Apple's senior vice president of Hardware Engineering, said, "The new Mac mini delivers gigantic performance in an unbelievably small design thanks to the power efficiency of Apple silicon and an innovative new thermal architecture." He added, "Combined with the performance of M4 and the new M4 Pro chip, enhanced connectivity on both the front and back, and the arrival of Apple Intelligence, Mac mini is more capable and versatile than ever, and there is nothing else like it."

When compared to the best-selling PC desktop in its price range, Mac mini is up to 6x faster at one-twentieth the size. This is a testament to Apple's engineering prowess and its commitment to delivering high-performance products in compact form factors. The Mac mini with M4 is a tiny powerhouse, featuring a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and now starts with 16GB of unified memory.

The Future of Apple's Environmental Commitment

For users who want pro-level performance, Mac mini with M4 Pro features the world's fastest CPU core with lightning-fast single-threaded performance. The Neural Engine in M4 Pro is also over 3x faster than in Mac mini with M1, so on-device Apple Intelligence models run at blazing speed. M4 Pro supports up to 64GB of unified memory and 273GB/s of memory bandwidth - twice as much bandwidth as any AI PC chip - for accelerating AI workloads.

The new Mac mini is also Apple's first carbon neutral Mac, reflecting the company's commitment to environmental sustainability. This is a significant milestone in Apple's ongoing efforts to reduce its environmental impact, similar to its transition to 100% renewable energy for its global facilities in 2018.

The latest operating system, macOS Sequoia, complements the hardware upgrades, bringing features such as iPhone Mirroring, enhanced Safari capabilities, and other productivity tools designed to leverage the new personalisation and connectivity features provided by Apple Intelligence.
