Bengaluru- based health and wellness start-up Healthify, on Friday said it has raised a new $20 million in fresh funding, thus closing its $45 million equity round.

The new capital of $20 million went to an earlier capital raised in 2023, bringing the company's total primary equity raise to around $125 million.

The funding round, initiated by existing investors Khosla Ventures and LeapFrog Investments, also received participation from Ranjan Pai's Claypond Capital.

The company said it is planning to use the fund for global expansion, particularly in US. The startup is planning to launch its app in US by end of 2024.

"After delivering outcomes at scale in India with our unique blend of AI and human coaching, we're thrilled to bring this approach to the US, the world's largest health and fitness market," Tushar Vashisht, co-founder and chief executive officer of Healthify, said. "With this funding, we're one step closer to achieving our mission of putting a high-acuity health coach in every person's pocket," he added.

The startup has conducted initial tests successfully in US and is planning to launch its app in the upcoming months.

Being designed to understand different fitness habits, local food varieties and regional languages, Healthify is planning to boost its AI capabilities to accommodate different health preferences, languages and cultures across the world, the company said, expressing its hope to achieve positive EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) by the fiscal year end.

Founded in 2012 by Tushar Vashisht, Mathew Cherian and Sachin Shenoy, Healthify has over 2,000 coaches to fulfil its mission to create a 'world-class Health and fitness platform for India.' It has 40 million users in 300 cities across the country.

Healthify formerly known as HealthifyMe is credited for launching the first online calorie tracker in 2012 in India. It launched its mobile app in 2014 before introducing its customized coaching in 2016. It was in 2018, the startup launched its AI coach RIA.
