Hyundai sold 48,297 EV units, marking a 4.5 percent increase year-on-year.
Industry analysts predict Hyundai and KIA's combined EV sales will surpass 100,000 units by October, with the potential to reach 120,000 units by the end of the year.
In contrast to its EV growth, Hyundai Motor experienced a 3.7 percent decline in total vehicle sales last month compared to the same period last year, driven by weaker overseas demand. The automaker sold 343,824 vehicles in September, down from 357,133 units in the previous year.
While domestic sales for Hyundai increased by 3.5 percent to 55,805 units, overseas sales dropped by 5 percent to 288,019 units.
Hyundai stated it would adjust its production and sales strategies to adapt to shifting global market conditions. From January to September, Hyundai's overall sales declined by 1.6 percent to 3,075,861 units compared to 3,127,036 during the same period last year.
