Amazon
Employees working with Amazon will be required to work from the office five days a week beginning next year, according to the company's CEO Andy Jassy.
Jassy made this announcement in a lengthy memo sent to employees on Monday.
Amazon, like almost all companies globally, had allowed its employees to work from their homes during the time of Covid pandemic.
As the pandemic fear subdued, the company asked its employees to work in a hybrid mode, mandating a three-day presence in office.
A Response to Operational Inefficiencies
According to a Bloomberg report, the CEO has mandated five-day work from office as a response to growing internal concerns about operational inefficiencies.
"We understand that some of our teammates may have set up their personal lives in such a way that returning to the office consistently five days per week will require some adjustments. To help ensure a smooth transition, we're going to make this new expectation active on January 2, 2025," wrote Jassy in the memo.
He added: "Global Real Estate and Facilities (GREF) is working on a plan to accommodate desk arrangements mentioned above and will communicate the details as they are finalized."
CEO Highlights Benefits of Working From Office
Jassy further noted that working from the office over the last 15 months had strengthened his belief in the benefits of operating from the office.
"If anything, the last 15 months we've been back in the office at least three days a week has strengthened our conviction about the benefits," he said.
According to Jassy, working from the office will help team members to collaborate and connect with each other, which will ultimately increase their productivity.
"We've observed that it's easier for our teammates to learn, model, practice, and strengthen our culture; collaborating, brainstorming, and inventing are simpler and more effective; teaching and learning from one another are more seamless; and, teams tend to be better connected to one another," added Jassy.
